Hello, my name is Sandre Kruger and my grandmother is Emily Northway Stephens. Both her and her brother, William Northway Stephens immigrated to New Zealand and raised families here. My mother's name is Molly Stephens Dilworth. I remember my grandmother telling me about Roy's father going to Canada to build the united nations building. I grew up with my grandmother who would tell me lots of stories about her childhood; she was a loving person and the main person who brought me up as my mother worked. I am 65 and am the CEO of a small private tertiary institute. My condolences to the family. I have a beautiful photo of my grandmother and her brother William to send you. krugers@anamata.ac.nz.

Dear Cathy, Marjorie and Ed,
We were so blessed to have many wonderful times with Roy. From dancing in the NYC clubs, celebrating at wonderful parties, and just the sheer joy of being together, there was no one who knew how to enjoy a moment or an occasion like Roy. But our most memorable time was when Roy, Marjorie, Richard and I went to London. Who could be a better host-no one. Marjorie and I walked and walked through the city, laughing, talking and eating chocolate and then Roy and Richard would hook up with us-that is when the hysteria began. Roy took us through Sturbridge's, it was like walking with a GOD-but it was at the private dinner we had in a lovely small dining room, in Micheal Caine's restaurant where the laughter resonated off the walls that was beyond memorable-The joy, the humor, the insights and the sheer love of life made Roy so very special. We will all miss him,
Please accept our sincerest condolences and shared memories of a truly spectacular person.

We are so saddened by the passing of a great man – and feel so blessed he was a part of our life. We can remember our son working on a middle school project on Mars, and Roy brought in books and articles for Andy to use. He spent time explaining to him about NASA and the importance of space research. His enthusiasm for learning - impressive. The Stephens/Kangas family are the kindest people we know. Cathy’s tireless work for and love of animals speaks volumes. The magical love of Marjorie and Roy - a real life fairy tale. Marjorie, seeing your love and care of Roy - inspirational. Your elegance and strength - remarkable. We love you all and send our thoughts, love and prayers, Pamela, Jim, Theo and Andy Aris.

Roy really loved life, he always had a smile and a bad joke. My wife and I took a trip with Roy to England, and had the best time of our lives. My wife and i always talk about that trip, especially the time we spent one night in a pub. I have had a professional and personal relationship with Roy for over 30 years, and enjoyed every second. I will miss him very much, but he is now at peace.

To the beautiful family of Roy Stephens, It is hard to see the Empress flag fly at half mast for Roy. Even though we knew it was coming it was still heartbreaking to hear the actual words. What an incredible legacy Roy left to your family. He always balanced his successful career with being a loving family man. He could make you fell special just by his tone of voice. Roy never gave up; God just won. May God grant all of you strength in the days ahead. May your beautiful experiences and memories outshine these last sad ones. With loving prayers, Bob and Sonia Fedak

Our deepest sympathies to the entire Stephens family and all who loved him. While we never had the privilege to meet him, we have come to know and love his granddaughter Nikki. And no doubt her sweet personality and fun loving nature as well as her love and passion for animals is a reflection of the legacy she inherited from her grandfather, whom she loved and adored deeply. May you all be comforted by the warm memories you cherish, especially at this very difficult time when the situation denies you the support of loving family and friends. While words fail to capture the pain of losing a loved one, please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
