Obituary of Donald Brewster

Donald Charles Brewster, age 75, died on September 2, 2009 in New Canaan, CT. Donald Brewster was born in Boston, Mass. and attended elementary school in Charlestown before moving to Wilmington, Mass. where he attended high school and the University of Mass. at Lowell. After five years as a principal in New Hampshire and team leader for International Voluntary Service in Saigon, Mr. Brewster came to Washington D.C. in 1964 when he joined the Agency for International Development and subsequently served in Vietnam and in Washington, D.C. In 1970 he was detailed to the National Security Council at The White House as a Vietnam specialist where he served until 1973. He then served as the last Cultural Attaché at the US Embassy in Saigon and was evacuated from the Embassy there in April, 1975. He then owned and operated Frederick Discount Liquors and The Laundry House, a laundromat located in Charlestown, West Virginia. He resided in both Middletown and Frederick, Maryland. He is survived by his wife Huong Buu of Lutz, FL, a son, Donald Brewster of Woodbridge, VA and a daughter, MyLinh Shattan of New Canaan, CT. He is also survived by a brother Arthur Brewster of Tustin, CA and a sister, Catherine Turner of Trabuco Canyon, CA. Mr. Brewster was predeceased by a brother Albert of Troy, Maine and a brother Joseph of Vallejo, CA. He has many nephews, nieces and grandchildren in locations throughout the world.
