Mr and Mrs Mackle were a key presence in my growing up, having met them in Japan in the early 1970's. From there, we would enjoy family visits in New Canaan at their home, in NJ/NYC for gatherings, and they attended my wedding 26 years ago in Annapolis, Maryland.
The most recent time that I spent time with Mr Mackle was several years ago. He loved showing the treasures that filled his home. He was always curious and eager to learn. I mentioned "fire mitigation" as I now live in Colorado Springs and we had recently dealt with two urban wildfires, and he was curious as to the causes and implications. I enjoyed speaking to him about the Naval Academy (where one of his grandkids is studying, much like I did 30+ years ago) and a range of intriguing topics.
I will miss his voice, wry observations, and demonstrable love of family and friends. I am comforted to know that he is reunited with Mrs. Mackle, and remain ever thankful for his presence in my life and the lives of the Reynolds family.
With love and prayers,
Kristin (Reynolds) Goodrich
