Evelyn Christie "Chris" Doran, 96, formerly of Manhasset, NY and Southbury, CT passed away peacefully on December 17th at the Waveny Life Care Center in New Canaan, CT. Chris is survived by her five children, Michael (Margo) of White Plains, NY, Patricia Spatola (Michael) of Hingham, MA, Martin (Margie) of New Canaan, CT, Eileen Cooper of Hilton Head, SC, and Christopher (Kathy) of Wyckoff, NJ. She is also survived by 18 loving grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Born on January 29th, 1923 in The Bronx, NY, the youngest of five children, Chris began her working career at Macy's 34th Street where she met her dear husband of 35 years, Marty Doran. Chris was an avid bridge player throughout her life. She also enjoyed tennis and golf, which she played well into her eighties. She was a Girl Scout leader, President of her Rosary Society and a Eucharistic Minister. She also was a member of The Prayer Shawl Ministry and a volunteer at the Waterbury, CT Soup Kitchen. She is remembered for her faith, her true love and devotion to her family and her abundant enthusiasm for all things Notre Dame. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20th at 9am at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan, CT followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 21 Cherry St, New Canaan, CT. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Waveny Life Care Center, 3 Farm Road, New Canaan, CT, 06840 or to Smile Train.
