Obituary of Elma Fay
Elma Ernst Fay, 96, of New Canaan, CT passed away on March 27, 2014 at Norwalk Hospital after a long illness.
Elma was born on March 1, 1918 in Quincy, IL. to the late Charles and Anna Ernst. She and her late husband, Edward R. Fay lived in Westport,CT for many years. Elma is survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Elma was a graduate of Quincy College. During World War II, Elma joined the American Red Cross and served in Europe from 1943-45 as leader of Clubmobile Group K.She wrote a memoir about her war experiences entitled "Through a Donut Hole".
After the war, Elma pursued a career in non profit organizations both in New York City and Westport,CT. Both she and her husband Ed were active in many local civic organizations in Westport and Norwalk...
A private graveside service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Norwalk, CT.
