Obituary of Manuel Bento

Manuel R. Bento, age 70 a resident of New Canaan for over 29 years entered into the dawn of a new life, with Christ our Lord and Savior, on Saturday March 22, 2014 at Norwalk Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Myrna Nieves Bento. Born in Alcobaca, Portugal Sept 20, 1943 he was the son of the late Francisco and Maria Ribeiro Bento. Manuel proudly served as a Green Beret in the Portuguese Army. Manuel was the founder of Manuel Bento Lawn Service working in Darien, New Canaan and Stamford. He will be remembered for his incredible wit, sense of humor and dedicated love to his family and friends. He will be most fondly remembered by all those who knew him. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Janet Walker and her husband Sean of Concord, MA, Jennifer Greatsinger and her husband Toben of Framingham , MA. Two brothers, Alcides Bento of Portugal, and Carlos Bento of Fairfield, CT, a sister Idalina Karker of Florida and four grandchildren, Chloe, Alexander, Gabriella, and Anastasia. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday , March 27, 2014 at 12:00 PM at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan, CT. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday form 10:00Am until time of service.
