Obituary of Georgette Jurgenson
Georgette A. Jurgenson, age 104, a longtime New Canaan resident died Sunday, May 12, 2013 in her New Canaan home. Born in Richmond, Mass, May 8, 1909 she was the wife of the late Francis J. Jurgenson who died in 1993.
Georgette was one of the founding members of the New Canaan Community Orchestra in 1949. She was an accomplished violinist, playing First Violin and Concert Mistress for the Orchestra. She was also an accomplished knitter, of intricate baby sweaters which she distributed around the neighborhood to new moms, and she also knitted for the Norwalk Hospital infant unit.
Georgette is survived by her two daughters, Joan M. Wolter of Etna, NH and Linda Jurgenson of Ridgefield, CT as well as with seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Sylvia Easterbrook.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 9:00 Am at St. Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan, CT Interment in Great Barrington, Mass will be private.
