Eugenia Marinelli, 72, of New Canaan, CT passed away with family by her side, on May 1, 2013. Eugenia was born on November 12, 1940 in Queens, NY to the late John J. and Rose Catina Abbatiello Eugenia (Jean) was one of four children including her twin brother, Joe. She was raised in Queens and began a long career in the insurance industry, working for her father’s insurance company, Abbey Agency. She was married and raised her two children in Danbury CT. She then joined her family in Long Island finally retiring and joining her daughter Terri in New Canaan, CT. Jean had a large circle of family and friends that she remained very close to. With her warm personality and a most contagious laugh, she was loved and adored. Eugenia is survived by 2 children, Vincent Marinelli, of Northport, NY and Theresa Marinelli of New Canaan, CT. Also surviving Eugenia are her grandchildren Megan, Perry, Kylie and Vallon and her sister Claire Velocci. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5th from 5-8pm at Hoyt Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 6th at 10:00am at St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan.
