Obituary of Peter Kisken
Peter John Kisken, age 79, a lifelong New Canaan resident and retired New Canaan Police Lieutenant, died Tuesday evening April 9, 2013 in Norwalk Hospital with his loving wife and family by his side. Born in New Canaan June 3, 1933, he was the son of the late Stanley and Helena Modzeleski Kisken. Peter was a Veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 2287.
Peter retired as Lieutenant from the New Canaan Police Department, after 30 years of service. Peter was appointed September 1, 1958 and promoted to Sergeant November 9, 1970, promoted to Lieutenant August 1, 1976 and retired January 31, 1989.
He received numerous letters of appreciation from the community throughout his career. He was also the Department’s firearms instructor for many years.
Peter, a kidney transplant patient for 20 ½ years, faced the challenges of his life with courage and determination. His remarkable spirit and positive outlook on life were an inspiration to his family
Peter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances (Ginger) Parker Kisken, his brother Eugene Kisken of Bridgeport, CT, and a sister Irene Mrus of Stamford, CT, a brother-in-law Anthony (Buzz) Parker, a sister-in-law M. Barbara Jacobs. Many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his brothers John and Joseph and brother-in-law Clarence E Jacobs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday April 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan. Interment will follow in St John’s Cemetery, Darien, CT.
