William Magruder Walker died on March 10 at home and surrounded by family after a long struggle with pulmonary disease. Former teacher, advertising executive, and career counselor, he was also an avid skier, golfer, paddle tennis and tennis player. He was very active in the Presbyterian church where he founded CaTS, the career transition support group. He was also a Stephen Minister and hospice volunteer. Mac is survived by his wife of 62 years, Andrea Schneidewind, his children, Jay, David, and Pamela, and his six grandchildren, Alexander and Emma Crowcroft, Gregers and Robin Walker, Cody Walker and Delaney Davidson. He was born in Llewellyn Park, NJ on Feb. 19, 1925. He was the youngest of five. He graduated from Lawrenceville School and Yale University. In World War II he served in the Air Transport Command. He returned to Yale after the war and graduated in the class of 1945W. Upon leaving Yale, he returned to Lawrenceville to teach algebra and coach, and soon set his sites on Madison Ave. He worked for Young and Rubicam and Cunningham and Walsh. After twenty-five years in advertising, he found his real passion in career counseling, working first for Drake, Beam, and Morin and then Wright Assoc. When he retired, he founded Career Mission, a career counseling practice he ran from his home. He was widely known for his great good humor, his interest in people, and his desire to help others. A service and celebration of his life is planned for the April 27th at the Presbyterian Church in New Canaan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan or the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, N.J.
