Obituary of Ruth Jay
Ruth MacDonough Jay, 95 , of New Canaan, CT passed away on February 21,2014 at home with her loving family by her side. Ruth was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 9, 1918 to the late Charles Q. MacDonough and Emily Rowen France MacDonough.
Ruth was a longtime volunteer at the Stamford Hospital and at the Waveny Care Center from it’s opening day. She was an avid tennis and paddle player along with her family at the New Canaan Field Club. She was also a champion equestrian in her younger days. There wasn’t a person who knew her that didn’t love and respect her.
Ruth is survived by three sons, Leslie Palmer Jay, of San Francisco, Hunter MacDonough Jay, of Trumbull Ct, Allan Jay III of Old Greenwich Ct, and one daughter, Judith Palmer Sanford of New Canaan Ct.. Also surviving Ruth are nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
