Obituary of Robert Sigg
Dr. Robert C Sigg, a longtime resident of New Canaan, died
Monday, Dec. 24 after a short illness with his loving family by his
side. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Fiona Faison Sigg.
Born the son of the late Conrad and Emily Krabisch Sigg in Queens,
New York on July 6, 1936, Robert grew up in Columbia, SC. He
attended a military academy and graduated from the University
of South Carolina. He later received his dental degree from
Temple University.
Robert met Fiona in the Berkshires in the summer of 1960, and they
were engaged ten days later. An Army man, after marrying, Robert and his beloved wife were stationed in France, where he
served as the dentist on a NATO military base outside of Paris. In 1964
Robert moved his young family to New Canaan where he set up his
dental practice on Park Street.
Robert enjoyed playing golf as a member of the Country Club of
New Canaan and also had a love of antiques. But Robert’s greatest
joy in life came from spending time with his family and friends. The
memories of his laugh and the stories that often preceded it will be
forever cherished by those who knew him.
Robert was predeceased by his brother, Fred Sigg (Betty), of
Augusta, Georgia. He is survived by his sons Christopher (Laura)
of New Canaan, Geoffrey (Kelly) of Ridgefield, CT, and daughters
Stephanie Morrissey (Dave) of Danbury, CT, and Robina Lewis
(Jeff) of New Canaan, and 7 grandchildren: Katie Sigg, Alex Sigg,
Porter Sigg, Chloe Sigg, Charlotte Sigg, Will Lewis and Jack Lewis.
A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday December 29 at St.
Marks Church at 11:30.
