Obituary of Mary Daly
Mary Henri Daly, age 88, formerly of Southbury, CT and Nerja, Spain died peacefully December 8, 2012 at Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk, CT. Born in Staten Island, NY on January 9, 1924, she was the daughter of William Henri and Margaret Farley Henri. Mary was from the Silver Lake area of Staten Island and was formerly married to the late Alfred F. Daly, a veteran of World War II.
Mary was active in the USO during World War II. Before her marriage she worked in advertising in Manhattan. After raising her family she was a realtor in Greene County, NY and worked for the American Institute of Architects in Albany, NY. She was especially interested in and an advocate for historic preservation.
In later years she enjoyed traveling and her home in Nerja, Spain; she was devoted to environmental causes and animal welfare.
Mary is survived by her daughter Sharon Carr and her son in law Richard of New Canaan, CT , her brother, William Henri of Staten Island, NY, three granddaughters, Adrienne Sparks (John), Jennifer Casper (Scott), and Christina Carr, two great-grandsons Aidan Casper and William Sparks, as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was predeceased by her son Wayne in 1967.
A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be held on a day to be determined in the spring at St. John the Baptist in Greenville, NY.
Burial will be private at Greenville Cemetery.
In Mary’s memory, contributions may be made to an animal rescue organization.
