We could not have had a better neighbor. Frm the day we moved in, Dan was there for us with a smile. Our friendship began the day we moved in. I have so many wonderful memories of Dan, all of which bring a smile to my face (a big laugh, really, and I'll share them in person with curious family members!). But the bottom line is Dan was aman of honor, dignity, conviction, grace, and humor. I never once heard him complain or whine. His love of life was evident to all of us, and especially my kids.

As a representative of the Choate Rosemary Hall community, I write to acknowledge and thank Dan for his many years of service to his Class of 1944 and the school. As a long time co-class agent, Dan would travel to campus and/or regional phone-athons through out a school year and call every member of his class to elicit support for the school. He was a unique volunteer and one we were most fortunate to include in the Choate family. Dan will always hold a special place in my heart and in the heart of the Choate community.

Dan got me started working at the YMCA in New Canaan and my childred all became swimmers and coaches because of it. We also have Skidmore ties. He played Santa for my Jeff when he was a baby at home in Darien about 40 yrs ago. A great man who also took me sailing not tooo long ago. My best to his family.

Having run the small boat that brought Santa Claus to the SHYC docks for the Kid's Christmas party for a number of years, I cherish fond memories of Dan, with a twinkle in his eye, playing one of his favorite roles.
