Alfred (Al) Tonkin Kneen Jr., age 71, a New Canaan resident for over 23 years, died Sunday October 21, 2012 at his home in New Canaan. Born in Yonkers, NY, December 21, 1940, he was the son of the late Alfred and Wilhelmina Bollenbach Kneen. At Columbia University, he was a member of the varsity Rugby team. He was also a member of the Old Blue Rugby Football Club, an avid golfer, and a long time member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Al served in the US Coast Guard in the sixties. A devoted husband and father, Al is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Mohn Kneen, his son, George Davis Parker Kneen, and his dachshund companion, Boomer, all of New Canaan. Other close relatives include sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Anne (Teddy) Mohn, Thomas and Kathryn Mohn Wooters, and Susan Mohn and Arthur Worsh, all of Boston, MA. A Memorial Service will be held December 1, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, 178 Oenoke Ridge Road, New Canaan, CT. Interment will be private.
