Obituary of Kahlua O'Callahan
Kahlua Jane O'Callahan, of Sunnyside, NY, died on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Mount Sinai Hospital after a long and courageous battle with liver disease. She was 59. Kahlua was born on September 1, 1953 in Bronx, NY to Daniel and Patricia O’Callahan of Clermont, FL. She graduated from Mahopac High School in 1971 and received her BA from The City College of New York in 2005.
Kahlua was a free-spirited individual who lived for her passions and pursued them. She was an especially dedicated mother and always encouraged her children to follow their dreams, wherever they might lead. She loved music and the performing arts, which kept her busy and engaged from Broadway to Reykjavik and back. Her strong tenets of health and wellness guided her life, even through her illness, and she was a knowledgeable educator and advocate of many forms of holistic medicine and nutrition. She was a licensed realtor in Westchester County and New York City for 10 years and, most recently, a nanny for several wonderful families.
She is survived by her daughters Nicole, Alexandra, Julianna and her son Anthony; her sisters Alicia O’Callahan of Strasbourg, France and Susan Covino of New Canaan, CT, her brother Daniel O’Callahan of Wappingers, NY, and their spouses; and her 10 loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 12 noon at St. Michael's Lutheran Church of New Canaan, CT on 5 Oenoke Ridge Road. Reception immediately following.
