Carole Ann Pickering Former long-time resident of New Canaan, CT and Murrells Inlet, SC, , age 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 10 in Stratford, CT. Born and raised in Danbury, CT she attended Danbury High School, a member of the Class of 1951. She went on to study nursing, becoming a registered nurse in 1954, working at Waveny Care Center and Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Pickering-Jones, who is the Human Resource Director for the Town of New Canaan, her son Fred Pickering who is a Lieutenant with the New Canaan Police Department and six grandchildren; Christopher, Carly and Andrew Jones of Fairfield and Shane, Cory and Mason Pickering of New Canaan. Her husband Frederick Pickering passed away three years ago. Calling hours will be on Saturday September 22, 2012, 1:00 - 4:00 at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, Ct 06840 Interment will be private.
