Angela Maxine Lapolla Maxine Lapolla, formerly of New Canaan, Ct, died Sunday Sept 2 in Richmond VA. She was 88 yrs old. Mrs Lapolla was born on June 18, 1924, in Lebanon Junction, Kentucky, to Mary and John Callahan. She spent her childhood in Louisville, KY and attended Nazzareth College for a career in Nursing. In 1947 she moved to New Canaan, CT, and spent 27 years with the Visiting Nurse Association. She also served as the nurse at both South School and Saxe Junior High School and worked part- time at the New Canaan YMCA. She retired in 1989 and moved to Richmond, VA shortly thereafter, to be with her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and her husband of 30 years, Charles Joseph Lapolla, Jr., who died in 1986. Charlie was a WWII veteran, a retired volunteer New Canaan fireman, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and florist and partner of Ridgeway Flowers in Stamford, CT. Survivors include four daughters, all formerly of New Canaan, CT; Linda Lapolla, Lisa Amsler, Sally Tarzia and Sarah Wells; three son-in-laws; Chris Tarzia, Mike Amsler, and Dan Pucket; nine grandchildren; and three great grand children, all of Richmond, VA. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday ,Oct 6, at 12:00 noon at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan with interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
