Obituary of Robert Bradley

Robert James Bradley, born in New Britain, CT, on January 2, 1938 to Francis Patrick Bradley and Anna McCabe Bradley, died peacefully on June 12, 2012, after a brief illness. Bob spent his youth in Old Wethersfield, CT, and retained many friendships from those happy times. He joined the Marines in 1956 and was stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC. Bob felt that his military experience had an extremely positive influence on him, helping him set the high standards he adhered to in both his personal and business life. After two years in the Marines, he worked for Northeast Utilities in Stamford, CT, from 1960-1971, receiving in 1969 the President’s Award for top salesman. He was the Founder and President of the Hi-Line Club at Northeast Utilities. In 1971 he joined the printing company of Kurt H. Volk, Inc. in sales and marketing. He worked on national credit marketing plans for Sears Roebuck and American Express Company as well as direct marketing plans for Conde Nast Publications, McGraw Hill, Dow Jones and General Electric Credit. He retired on September 8, l988 and spent the subsequent years playing golf, traveling and enjoying his friends and family. Having spent many years living and raising his family in Weston, CT, he became a resident of Vero Beach, FL, in 1981, spending summers in Sunapee, NH. He was a member of Hawk’s Nest Golf Club and John’s Island Club in Vero Beach. Kathleen Baratuck Bradley, his wife of 39 years, died in November, 1996. His son, Jeffrey, and daughter, Stacy, also predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Colgan Bradley whom he married in 1998, and granddaughters Caitlin Bradley and Kristen Bradley and great-granddaughter Londyn Faiella. He is also survived by nephews, Robert, Jay and Joseph Bradley and niece, Marcy Bradley Light. Burial will be private in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Hartford, CT. A memorial mass will take place on July 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, 21 Cherry Street, New Canaan, CT 06840.
