Janice Marie DeMichael Obituary

Janice Marie DeMichael of Norwalk, CT passed away on January 3, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Janice was born on January 8, 1951, to Joseph A. and Helen M. Lapolla in Norwalk. She was the wife of Salvatore J. DeMichael, Sr. (married 51 years).


Janice had a career in hairdressing and enjoyed reading (especially biographies and non-fiction books), driving her car, and spending time with family. She also enjoyed world history, traveling, music, and astrology. She had a love for shoes, handbags, jewelry, and was an expert in geography. She was proud to be a “southpaw”.


Janice is survived by her husband Salvatore J. DeMichael, Sr, her daughters Shannan I. Gil and Leigh M. Spaeth and son, Salvatore J. DeMichael, Jr. Janice is also survived by her grandchildren Valentina Gil, Alanna Gil, MaryAlice DeMichael, Braden DeMichael, Kristian Gonzalez and great grandchildren, Noah and Jonah Gonzalez, her brother, Frank Lapolla, an aunt, Diane Johnson, and several cousins.


Janice’s strength was her legacy, and her love will forever echo in the hearts of those she touched. Though she has left this world, her spirit remains an unbreakable light in our lives.


The family will receive friends and family on January 11, 2026, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, CT 06840.


A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, January 12, 2026, 10:00 am at St. Aloysius Parish, 21 Cherry Street, New Canaan, CT 06840 followed by the burial at Lakeview Cemetery, 352 Main Street, New Canaan, CT 06840.
