Robert R. "Bob" Evans Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Richard Evans, who left us

on July 7, 2025. Born on September 18, 1949 in Allentown, PA, Bob was a

cherished husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend and a beloved member of the New

Canaan community.

Bob grew up in Allentown, PA and attended Parkland High School, playing quarterback for the

football team and leading them to a state championship. If you are ever in Allentown, visit the

Applebee’s and you can see his picture on the wall! He went on to pursue his academic and

athletic endeavors at East Stroudsburg University, where he played football and graduated with

a degree in Business.

After graduating, Bob began a successful and distinguished career in the technology industry.

Over the years, he worked at Xerox, Oracle, and IBM, making significant contributions to each

organization earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers.

A lifetime fitness enthusiast, Bob loved running and working out and could be found most days

at the YMCA and walking his adored dogs Madi and Scarlett. He approached fitness the way he

approached everything in his life, with grit, determination, intensity, and dedication. Always one

to challenge himself, Bob completed 10 marathons, including the Boston Marathon, which is a

testament to his tremendous work ethic and no-excuses attitude. His affinity for competition and

sports extended to him being a revered youth football coach in New Canaan.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years Kristin O’Grady Evans, by his children Alison,

Kristi and her husband Dave Distenfield, Robert, Abigail, and Katherine, and by his grandsons

Connor and Tyler. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Betty Evans and his brother Bill.

His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren who will continue to live their lives

with his exuberance, determination, resilience, and commitment to creating fun. His absence

leaves a hole that will never be filled.

A funeral mass will be held on July 21, 2025 at 10am at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bob’s memory to: Tunnel to Towers Foundation https://dogood.t2t.org/IMOBobEvans or Fred’s Team - MSKCC http://mskcc.convio.net/goto/InMemoryofBobEvans.
