| Harold K. (Hal) Herzog , a resident of New Canaan, CT. passed away Saturday July 17, 2010 in Stamford Hospital at age 86.
Born and raised in the Bronx, NY he served in the U.S. Army during World War II seeing action in Germany and Austria. Upon discharge from the Army he entered NYU where he received both his BS and MBA degrees. Hal went to work for New York Life Insurance Company in 1941 right out of High School, and returned after graduating from NYU. He spent the major part of his career with the Investment Department and was named Assistant Vice President in 1966, Second Vice President in 1968 and Vice President in 1972. In 1980 he was elected Senior Vice President in charge of Investment Operations. He retired from New York Life in 1988. After retirement, he went on to become the Vice President of the business development joint venture between the Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company of New York and the Medical Society of the State of New York. He was also the Chairman of the Physicians Information Exchange, a professional credentials firm that was formed by the joint venture and the Greater New York Hospital Association. He served as a director, member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company of New York. In addition he served as director and member of the Finance and Audit Committee of Sargasso Mutual Insurance Company in Hamilton, Bermuda and the Holly Hill Fruit Products of Davenport, Florida. He is survived by his wife Mary and their children Casey and Clare. Burial will be private. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday July 22, 2010 at 1:00PM at the Congregational Church of New Canaan, 23 Park Street, New Canaan.
